About The Position

The Embark Peer Coach Supervisor supports peer coaches and incoming first-year students on the autism spectrum during Embark Penn State (June 7–12, 2026). This role provides oversight and mentorship to peer coaches while helping ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for participants. Working closely with College of Education faculty and staff, the Supervisor coordinates peer coach activities during training and the program week. They serve as a primary support for peer coaches, helping them apply coaching principles effectively with students. The Supervisor models an autism-informed, coaching-based approach and contributes to a supportive, flexible environment that recognizes differences in communication, learning, and social engagement. This role offers experience in supervision, leadership, and facilitation within a higher education context. It is well suited for graduate or advanced undergraduate students with experience in student support, education, counseling, or related fields.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education and 1+ years of academic coaching experience.
  • Experience supporting students on the autism spectrum or in higher education student success contexts.
  • Interest in supervisory and leadership roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; thoughtful, patient approach.
  • Dependable and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Must commit to the full program (June 7–12, 2026), oversee peer coach training, and attend in-person training (June 3–4).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and mentor peer coaches during training and the program week, ensuring consistent, high-quality support.
  • Support application of coaching practices for reflection, goal-setting, and navigation of academic and campus life.
  • Coordinate daily logistics, scheduling, and session support with program staff.
  • Assist with sessions, small groups, and campus activities.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that supports sensory needs, flexible participation, and varied social preferences.
  • Participate in team meetings and daily coordination.
  • Stay overnight in-residence halls some nights; housing and meals provided.
  • Complete required paid training and support peer coach readiness.
