About The Position

ASPECT: Autism Spectrum Peer Coaching Team is a peer coaching program to support students on the Autism Spectrum with their transition to college. The program focuses on participants developing self-advocacy skills, social skills, resiliency, study and organizational skills, and technology skills. The coach position requires abilities in creative problem solving, dependability, and patience as you assist participants in their transition into college.

Requirements

  • Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post-secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Have completed at least one full academic year at Ohio University as of May 30, 2025.
  • Have enthusiasm and compassion for working with individuals with disabilities, including but not limited to autism.
  • Have an appreciation for equal access.
  • Have experience working with neurodivergence/disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Offers academic and/or well-being support to fellow students, helping them navigate academic, social, or personal challenges.
  • Responsibilities may include providing peer counseling, resources, and referrals to other campus services.

Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $14.00
  • Flexible working hours arranged between Coach and Mentee (5-15 hrs per week).
