About The Position

Peer Advisors at Forsyth Technical Community College will work in the Student Success Center (SSC) to provide outreach, customer service, and guidance to fellow students. They will assist with various tasks related to registration, course planning, and preparation for appointments with professional advisors, while also participating in college events and orientation activities. This role is designed to help Peer Advisors develop leadership skills and a deeper understanding of the college's processes for serving students.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled as a student of Forsyth Tech.
• Must be willing to work a minimum of 15 hours with flexible hours.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and maintain professional boundaries with peers.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Punctual, reliable, and consistent attendance is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office programs.
• Willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with questions related to registration, course planning, and advising tools.
• Help with orientation and college events.
• Provide exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for the SSC.
• Aid in developing class schedules and the registration process.
• Attend all training sessions and staff meetings.
• Become familiar with assigned college curriculum and resources.
• Communicate academic procedures accurately to students.
• Make copies, file, and assist with large mailings.
