About The Position

The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II reports to the Pediatric Interventional Cardiac and Imaging Manager. Under indirect supervision, the Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II provides high quality echocardiograms for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist in a professional manner that is consistent with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role requires independent and efficient performance of clinical Pediatric Echo operations in the hospital and procedural setting, entering full preliminary reports, covering all MUSC Pediatric Echo Lab locations and shifts including call rotation. This role organizes and prioritizes patient exams and contributes to unit teamwork.

Requirements

• Graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience.
• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS or RCCS certification in Pediatrics.
• Two years minimum pediatric echocardiography work experience.
• Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and complex congenital heart disease.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

• Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification.
• Associate of Arts/Science or a Bachelor’s degree.
• Fetal Echo and research experience.
• Echocardiography experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cath Lab.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality echocardiograms for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist.
• Perform clinical Pediatric Echo operations independently and efficiently.
• Enter full preliminary reports for echocardiograms.
• Cover all MUSC Pediatric Echo Lab locations and shifts including call rotation.

• Contribute to unit teamwork.
