Until certified, the pedorthist will work under supervised pedorthic patient care. Supervision will be provided by a certified pedorthist or qualified healthcare provider to ensure appropriate oversight and patient safety. The Certified Pedorthist is a health care professional specifically educated and trained to manage comprehensive pedorthic patient care. They provide the application of a pedorthic device for the prevention or amelioration of painful and/or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle. Pedorthic devices include therapeutic shoes, shoe modifications, partial foot orthosis for midfoot and more distal amputation, and foot orthoses. These may include devices to control the subtalar joint, up to the junction of the gastrocnemius and Achilles tendon.
