About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at PM Pediatrics is a part-time role focused on providing high-quality care in a pediatric urgent care setting. The RN will work under the direct supervision of a physician, assisting with primary patient care and ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. This role emphasizes the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment while adhering to the company's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Pediatric experience is required; experience in Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospital unit, or Pediatrics Urgent Care is preferred.
  • Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure from the state of residence.
  • Prior experience and competency with nursing procedures, including IV placement and medication administration.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended.
  • Knowledge of medical practice, terminology, and clinic processes.
  • Skill in rapid assessment of critical presentations in the pediatric population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and nonverbally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
  • Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, intake, and prioritize patient care.
  • Perform procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion, and urinary straight catheterization.
  • Administer medications (oral, rectal, IM, and IV) and assist the physician with total patient care.
  • Remain knowledgeable in pediatric pharmacology and assist with patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Perform monthly quality control checks in the office and assist in quality control testing in the lab.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and maintain instruments.
  • Practice standard safety practices and precautions, responding to emergencies as needed.
  • Establish effective rapport with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
