About The Position

To provide professional skills in the comprehensive evaluation of patients with speech and language impairments, and to provide habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services. The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, a leading academic health sciences center located on the Texas Gulf Coast, is searching for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for openings in Outpatient Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology for the Clear Lake/Webster Outpatient clinic. The Center for Audiology and Speech Pathology has opportunities for a Full Time Outpatient Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to join an environment of advanced clinical care and to participate in program development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Certification or eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
  • Licensure or eligible for Speech Pathology License from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Voice and Classically trained vocal expert for voice evaluation and treatment.
  • Experience in dysphagia assessment and treatment.
  • Prior experience in pediatric evaluation and treatment.
  • Experience with Pediatric feeding/MBS.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation of patients with speech and language impairments.
  • Deliver habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services.
  • Conduct adult, infant and toddler feeding assessments.
  • Perform pediatric and adult modified barium swallow studies.
  • Conduct fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing.
  • Provide videostroboscopy and voice treatment.
  • Assess trach and ventilator dependent patients.
  • Deliver speech rehabilitation for head and neck cancer patients.
  • Conduct speech, language and cognitive-linguistic assessments.
  • Teach medical students and residents.
  • Supervise clinical fellows.
