Position Summary Vanderbilt Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our nationally ranked rehabilitation team at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. This full-time role offers the opportunity to provide specialized care to children with complex speech, language, and swallowing disorders in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

  • Complete pediatric outpatient video-fluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS) two days a week and outpatient pediatric feeding/swallow therapy three days a week.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, voice, cognition, fluency, auditory (re)habilitation, and swallowing/oral feeding disorders.
  • Educate and counsel patients and families.
  • Provide independent therapeutic services and identify area(s) of clinical specialization and competency.
  • Supervise graduate students as assigned in clinical specialty area.
  • Participate actively in identifying and conducting quality improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with clinical practice team to achieve patient outcomes and system objectives.
  • Evaluate and treat pediatric patients with speech-language, feeding/swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders in an outpatient setting (3 days/week)
  • Conduct Video-Fluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS) in both outpatient and inpatient settings (2 days/week)
  • Provide therapy for children with complex medical conditions including dysphagia, tracheostomy, cleft palate, craniofacial disorders, and traumatic brain injury
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists to deliver comprehensive care
  • Educate families and caregivers on therapy strategies, progress, and home programs
  • Document patient outcomes and support discharge planning using My Health at Vanderbilt/MyChart
  • Analyzes comprehensive information from formal and informal assessment that is pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine a rehabilitation treatment diagnosis.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the rehabilitation continuum.
  • Applies appropriate, evidence-based interventions to ensure effective outcomes and re-evaluates performance to assess patient's progress towards goals.
  • Employs strategies to promote successful return to home, community, and school/vocational environments.
  • Supervises graduate students by providing instruction, guidance/counsel and training to ensure provision of competent patient care and completion of appropriate documentation.
  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Active or eligible Tennessee SLP License
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Experience in pediatric feeding and swallowing therapy
  • LIC-Speech Pathologist - Tennessee
