Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN)
  • RN license in state of practice (SC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), obtained within one year of employment as required by hospital

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
  • 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital
  • Pediatric and/or orthopedic experience

Responsibilities

  • The coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in the operating room.
  • Supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Will function within the Shriners Hospitals for Children Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN.
  • Provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.
