The rehabilitation psychologist will provide services to children and adolescents who are admitted for interdisciplinary treatment on the inpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) service. Duties will include: Inpatient assessment and consultation to formulate diagnostic impressions and treatment plans; Provide psychotherapeutic intervention to patients throughout their admission; Work collaboratively with other disciplines, including nursing, medical providers, child life specialists, social work, trauma network, and rehab therapies; Facilitate or provide brief psychotherapy follow-up after discharge; Attend care team meeting weekly (2 hours) and 30-minute huddle 3x/week. There will be opportunities for new program development and training of psychology practicum students.

  • Conduct assessments based on clinical interview, presenting information and clinical standards of program.
  • Formulate an appropriate diagnosis using standards established in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Write appropriate treatment plans according to patient diagnosis, age and clinical presentation.
  • Collaborate with appropriate guardians to insure effective service delivery.
  • Provide clinical supervision of Psychologist I, predoctoral interns and/or graduate practicum students in the practice of psychology.
  • Conduct forensic evaluations and provides court testimony as an expert witness when directed.
  • Select, administer, and interpret psychological instruments, including a written report on psychological evaluation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various treatment modalities and theoretical applications based on current clinical standards.
  • Write appropriate discharge plans based on individual needs of client and follows through with termination process.
  • Manage clients in crisis utilizing appropriate skills and assessment.
  • Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from, an APA approved training program required.
  • License eligible or currently licensed as a Licensed Practicing Psychologist from the N.C. State Board of Examiners of Practicing Psychologists required.
