Hospital The Salt Lake Campus is ranked among the best children’s hospitals in the United States, providing specialized care for more than 1 million children living in a 400,000 square-mile service area and beyond. Unit Information: Our 32-bed Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Unit specializes in providing comprehensive care to children with cancer, hematologic disorders, and those undergoing bone marrow transplants. Our patients range from infancy to young adults. In this fast-paced and high acuity environment, our nurses administer many IV medications and blood products. Because of this acuity, our ratios are 2-3 patients per nurse. To support our nurses’ professional growth, we spread out learning and skill development over two years, starting with chemotherapy certification and advancing through tiered bone marrow transplant education. This structured approach ensures our team delivers the highest standard of care while continuously building expertise in oncology and hematology nursing.
