About The Position

As a community, the University of Rochester is defined by a deep commitment to Meliora - Ever Better. Embedded in that ideal are the values we share: equity, leadership, integrity, openness, respect, and accountability. Together, we will set the highest standards for how we treat each other to ensure our community is welcoming to all and is a place where all can thrive. Daytime, 40 hours/week, M-F, No weekends, No Holidays. We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our growing Division of Pediatric Pulmonary. This role is ideal for an RN who enjoys coaching and teaching pediatric patients and their caregivers, as you would be performing a variety of pulmonary function tests (PFTs) in our dedicated lab and providing essential education for managing complex pulmonary diagnoses such as Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Neuromuscular Disorders, and Tracheostomy/ventilator-dependent conditions. This position is an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with respiratory therapists, pediatric pulmonary providers, and nursing teams across both the division and clinic to deliver comprehensive care. Beyond PFTs and education, your responsibilities may also include rooming patients, administering immunizations, conducting oxygen qualifications, coordinating Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and assisting with exercise testing. Our division is committed to continuous growth and quality improvement, including maintaining research-level standards in clinical care. A couple of recent examples of this are the implementation of oscillometry testing soon and the utilization of ulnar calipers for precise height measurements, which support the care of our patients with limited mobility. We are seeking a candidate with 1-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, who possesses excellent critical thinking skills, flexibility, and a strong commitment to teamwork. Spanish language fluency is preferred but not required, and we strongly encourage diverse applicants to apply. The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving an inclusive and welcoming culture to advance the University’s Mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create – and Make the World Ever Better. In support of our values and those of our society, the University is committed to not discriminating on the basis of age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, military/veteran status, national origin, race, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, citizenship status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law (Protected Characteristics). This commitment extends to non-discrimination in the administration of our policies, admissions, employment, access, and recruitment of candidates, for all persons consistent with our values and based on applicable law.
