The pharmacy student (intern) assists pharmacists to provide pharmacy services including the evaluation and input of licensed independent practitioner orders/prescriptions, and the technical functions of drug procurement, preparation, and distribution. These and all other duties are completed under the supervision of a pharmacist, but in this final phase of training. Expectation: Is proficient in pharmacy technical functions and the pharmacology and utilization of medications. An Intern at this level is expected to serve as a leader and mentor for other pharmacy Interns and technicians. This position will coverage shifts that could include days weekends and holidays and are generally from 0700-2200 (no graveyard hours). Scope Pharmacy Intern Level IV is a training, learning position. Students of an accredited school of pharmacy are required to complete training hours that may be part of a paid internship. Pharmacy Intern Level IV is the position associated with either a fourth year pharmacy student or an employee who has mastered the technical aspects of pharmacy practice and clinical skills meeting the competency and skills check list associated.
