About The Position

The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah is seeking a pathologist with training in the diagnosis, teaching, and clinical research of pediatric pathology. The position is needed to balance recent growth and retirements. Applicants with an interest in GI and liver pathology are particularly encouraged to apply as there is an ability to lead diagnostic and translational research efforts in this area. Opportunities and mentoring to develop other areas of expertise (surgical/oncologic, perinatal/autopsy, laboratory/ transfusion medicine) are also available. There is flexibility of service distribution depending on needs and interests. All faculty take clinical call (pathology and laboratory) on a rotating basis. Candidates must be certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or equivalent and be eligible for certification in Pediatric Pathology or have equivalent training/experience. Candidates must also be eligible for medical licensure in Utah. Salary and rank will be based on training and experience. The Division of Pediatric Pathology is based at Primary Children's Hospital on the campus of the University of Utah. Operated by Intermountain Health, Primary Children's serves a 5-state area in the Intermountain West and includes the 332-bed Salt Lake City Campus hospital as well as the recently opened 66-bed Miller Campus hospital just south of the city. The Division currently includes staffing for 8 pediatric pathologists and has a fellowship training program. The Department of Pathology has excellent clinical, research, and education programs; operates a national reference laboratory, ARUP Laboratories, and is integrated with the Huntsman Cancer Institute, which provide exceptional opportunities for research and education. Requirements
