Volunteer Opportunity This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in Physical or Occupational Therapy or anyone who enjoys supporting children and helping create a positive, engaging environment in a healthcare setting. Volunteers work closely with staff in the Rehab Therapy department to help keep the gym running smoothly and to support therapists in preparing for patient sessions. Please note: Volunteers do not provide hands-on clinical care; all direct patient therapy is performed by licensed therapists. Requirements

  • Age 18+
  • Able to commit to a weekly 4-hour shift for at least 6 months.
  • Physically able to assist with light cleaning and movement of equipment (20–30 lbs), kneeling, standing, or floor sitting as needed.
  • Must be flexible and willing to support various areas based on daily needs, as directed by Volunteer Supervisor.
  • If you are a former or current MSK patient, you must be out of active treatment for at least one year.
  • Friendly, reliable, and comfortable engaging with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist therapists by preparing materials and activity setups such as obstacle courses, stacking activities, or ball tosses.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment by changing linens and lightly cleaning equipment between sessions.
  • Support staff with general room turnover and preparation for upcoming patients.
  • Encourage a welcoming, energetic atmosphere for pediatric patients and families.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and other volunteers to ensure sessions run efficiently.
