All while receiving the resources and support you need to advance your career and be the force behind the cures. St. Jude is searching for a Pediatric Oncology Nurse in our Outpatient Department. Primary care coordinator of interdisciplinary patient care activities and responsible for the management of patients throughout their continuum of care at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Responsible and accountable for high quality patient care through implementation of the nursing process including assessment of patient needs (physical, psychosocial, educational), design of a collaborative plan of care, implementation of the plan with appropriate delegation of tasks, coordination of team effort, and evaluation of patient progress towards outcomes. Acts as a patient/family advocate, she/he seeks opportunities to communicate and coordinate patient care activities throughout the continuum in collaboration with other members of the Health Care Team. Full time days. Monday - Friday 4 ten hour shifts with rotating off day. Holiday requirement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Nursing required. For Internal St Jude employees only: Will consider Associate degree on career path to BSN; BSN required within 3 years.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), required.
  • 0-17 months prior experience preferred.
  • Basic pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
  • Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal and patient education skills.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
  • Ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.
  • (LC: RN-TN) Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
  • (LC: RN-ARK or RN-MISS) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred.
  • Familiarity with research protocols, preferred.
  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
