St. Jude Inpatient Department is searching for a nurse in the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit. The Bone Marrow Transplant unit serves patients who are being worked up for or have recently received transplants or require cellular therapy . This is a unique patient population requiring care involving attention to detail, recognizing rejection or sepsis in early stages , and detailed patient education . The BMT unit is accredited by the Foundation of the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and provides data for the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research . This is a night shift specific opportunity looking for an experienced nurse who has a desire to work with patients undergoing bone marrow transplant care. Night Shift RN position- 3 (12 hour) shifts /week with rotating weekends and holidays as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Nursing required. For Internal St Jude employees only: Will consider Associate degree on career path to BSN; BSN required within 3 years.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), required.
  • Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
  • Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Basic pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
  • Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal and patient education skills.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
  • Ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS
  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON)
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
  • Familiarity with research protocols
