St. Jude Inpatient Department is searching for a nurse in the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit. The Bone Marrow Transplant unit serves patients who are being worked up for or have recently received transplants or require cellular therapy. This is a unique patient population requiring care involving attention to detail, recognizing rejection or sepsis in early stages, and detailed patient education. The BMT unit is accredited by the Foundation of the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and provides data for the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research. Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Nursing required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Knowledge of growth and development principles for all ages served.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with research protocols.
  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients in the Bone Marrow Transplant unit.
  • Monitor patients for signs of rejection or sepsis.
  • Educate patients and families about their care and treatment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best patient outcomes.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and documentation.
