Description: The Pediatric Oncology Clinical Informatics Pharmacist supports our transition to a new electronic health record and provides clinical pharmacy services for patients with cancer receiving care at Riley Children’s Health. As a core member of the pediatric hematology/oncology team, the specialist ensures safe, effective, and evidence based‑based medication use in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role includes informatics liaison and clinical patient care responsibilities. Hybrid work options available. This role requires expertise in chemotherapy management, supportive care, investigational protocols, and operational workflows unique to pediatric oncology. A PGY2 residency in oncology, pediatrics or equivalent experience is required to be considered for this position. Epic Beacon end-user experience preferred. Requirements

  • Requires Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy prior to 2006.
  • Successful completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 or PGY2 residency may be required.
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires current Indiana Pharmacist license or eligibility for Indiana licensure as a Pharmacist.
  • Board certification or other specialized training may be required.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
  • May require travel to IU Health facilities.
  • May require weekend rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee pharmacotherapy for pediatric oncology patients, including chemotherapy dosing, monitoring, and toxicity management.
  • Manage supportive care: antimicrobials, anticoagulation, pain control, and antiemetics.
  • Educate pharmacy trainees and peers on pediatric oncology therapeutics and medication safety.
  • Serve as the primary clinical pharmacy liaison between Epic Beacon builders and pediatric oncology care teams to ensure workflows support clinical practice.
  • Translate pediatric oncology clinical requirements (chemotherapy protocols, dosing, supportive care, safety checks) into Beacon build specifications.
  • Collaborate with Beacon builders during design and build phases to optimize treatment plans and decision support for pediatric oncology patients.
  • Support clinical validation, integrated testing, and day-in-the-life testing of Beacon functionality prior to go-live‑live.
  • Serve as a super-user during training and go-live.
  • Contribute to long-term Beacon optimization and standardization efforts to support evolving pediatric oncology practices and future system upgrades.
