About The Position

Position Summary: The Pediatric Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized therapeutic interventions to support the development and functional independence of children with physical, sensory, cognitive, or developmental challenges. This role focuses on helping children achieve success in daily activities, including self-care, play, school performance, and social participation. The Pediatric Occupational Therapist collaborates closely with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to create and deliver treatment plans that promote skill development, adaptive strategies, and overall well-being in alignment with each child’s unique needs and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid Occupational Therapy license in the state of Kentucky.
  • Initial certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Previous experience working with children in clinical, school, or early intervention settings preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, sensory integration, and pediatric assessment tools.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of children’s motor skills, sensory processing, visual-perceptual abilities, and functional performance.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and child/family goals.
  • Utilize therapeutic activities, sensory integration techniques, and adaptive equipment to improve participation in daily routines.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals to support carryover of therapeutic goals in home and school settings.
  • Monitor and document child progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Provide education and training to families regarding developmental milestones, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to individualized education program (IEP) development as appropriate.
  • Stay informed of current best practices, research, and continuing education in pediatric occupational therapy.
