About The Position

At Vanderbilt Health, Pediatric Occupational Therapists play a critical role in helping children build the skills they need to thrive—right where they learn and grow. This role is embedded in early learning and preschool environments, serving children from birth through kindergarten age in collaborative, supportive school-based settings. If you’re passionate about pediatric development and want autonomy, purpose, and meaningful impact, this is a unique opportunity to help build and grow an early learning OT program. The Pediatric Occupational Therapist – Early Learning Settings provides evaluation and treatment services for young children with developmental and functional needs. Care is delivered directly within early learning centers and preschool classrooms, allowing therapy to integrate naturally into a child’s daily routines. This role offers independence, flexibility, and collaboration with experienced pediatric professionals across OT, PT, Speech, and education teams.

Requirements

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of Tennessee
  • Pediatric occupational therapy experience with a developmental focus
  • Ability to work independently in school-based or early learning environments
  • Strong time management, flexibility, and communication skills
  • Relevant Work Experience Experience Level : 1 year
  • Bachelor's

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of pediatric OT experience
  • Experience in early learning, preschool, or school-based settings
  • Comfort building programs and expanding services over time

Responsibilities

  • Perform pediatric occupational therapy evaluations and individualized treatment sessions
  • Support children ages birth through 6 years (preschool and early learning)
  • Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and families
  • Manage your own schedule and caseload within school-based environments
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, and progress in accordance with standards
  • Contribute to the growth and development of early learning therapy services
  • Occasional opportunity to support outpatient pediatric needs, as needed
  • Analyzes comprehensive information from formal and informal assessment that is pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine a rehabilitation treatment diagnosis.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the rehabilitation continuum.
  • Applies appropriate, evidence-based interventions to ensure effective outcomes and re-evaluates performance to assess patient's progress towards goals.
  • Employs strategies to promote successful return to home, community, and school/vocational environments.
