Looking for staff to join our EDTC team in December 2025 and January/February 2026 Prefer candidates with Emergency Department RN experience OR those with at least a year of RN experience in an acute hospital setting. Must be comfortable committing long term to working 12 hour night shifts As a Children’s ER nurse, you can practice your specialty at the region’s only independent health system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. We’re a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center with highly specialized facilities, services and care for kids, and we see more than 60,000 emergency/trauma visits each year. Responsibilities include being a partner in the care management team, providing coordination and management of patient care to pediatric patients and families within a continuum of care and delegating patient activities as appropriate within a care management assignment. Functions within professional and hospital standards. (Graduate nurses work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.)

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an ADN or a BSN in order to meet the recommended entry level for a professional nurse (or equivalent academic and/or professional experience). A BSN is preferred.
  • A current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Knowledge of the principles of neonatal, pediatric and adolescent growth and development and child/family responses to fear, illness, injury and hospitalization.
  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
  • PALS certification required within one year of hire.
  • Analytical skills necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
  • Ability to delegate patient care activities effectively to unlicensed staff as appropriate and where indicated.
  • The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services.
  • Mental and sensory abilities to read, process and interpret clinical data.
  • Ability to rotate shifts and/or work flexible hours to meet patient care needs.
  • Ability to communicate with, and work with parents/families under extreme stress.
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver complex care utilizing a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Ability to operate, interpret and trouble-shoot a wide variety of patient care equipment.
