About The Position

Position Summary Working in collaboration with the other members of the clinical team, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will function as a primary care pediatric provider at Mary’s Center. They will initiate assessment, diagnosis, and the implementation of a range of care interventions and treatment plans for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed health conditions that are within their scope of practice. Reportability The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner reports to the Administrative Medical Director and will work collaboratively with the Pediatric Clinical Lead. Annually, the clinician is evaluated on clinical competency by the Administrative Medical Director or their proxies (Associate Medical Director or Clinical Lead).

Requirements

  • Requires a Master of Science in Nursing, possession of an active NP license in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible.
  • At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • A thorough understanding and knowledge of patient confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a community health setting and/or experience in working with immigrant or economically-disadvantaged populations preferred.
  • Bilingualism in Spanish and English strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to Mary’s Center patients in an efficient manner.
  • Coordinate the transferring of patients to emergency facility and arrange for hospitalization as needed.
  • Collaborate with Mary’s Center clinicians as needed to provide patient care.
  • Collaborate with Mary’s Center and external healthcare providers as necessary to make appropriate medical decisions.
  • Practice medicine within quality standards such as HEDIS
  • Coordinate for sub-specialty care with the nursing and social work staff
  • Provide consultation and education to patients and/or parents and staff to increase the quality of patient care.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to medical assistants.
  • Perform routine professional duties (complete and lock medical notes, address labs, respond to telephone encounters and correct billing claims) in an efficient and well-organized manner per Mary’s Center policy.
  • Perform routine medical administrative duties in an efficient, well-organized manner.
  • Participate in various team and provider meetings.
  • Participate in projects and/or policy initiatives for Mary’s Center and its community.
  • Participate in Saturday and evening clinic sessions as needed
  • Participate in the on-call rotation as appropriate for specialty
  • Participate in inter-departmental meetings as needed.
  • Participate in Mary’s Center Continuous Quality Improvement Plan
  • Perform other duties determined as necessary by the Administrative Medical Director and Chief Medical Office, or their delegates
