About The Position

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine at Phoenix Children's Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based care to pediatric patients in an urgent care setting. This role involves assessing and treating acute injuries and illnesses, performing procedural care, and collaborating with attending physicians to ensure comprehensive patient care. The position is integral to the medical team, focusing on improving patient experience and care efficiency while maintaining effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Requirements

  • Pediatric experience required.
  • Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by start date.
  • Arizona state license is mandatory.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and nonverbally.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessments for pediatric patients.
  • Order and prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Formulate family-centered plans of care and document daily as necessary.
  • Collaborate and coordinate care with other team members.
  • Collect and analyze data as needed for patient management.
  • Perform advanced procedures associated with credentialing process.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices for patient care plans and adjust as necessary.
  • Serve as an educational resource for patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Participate in professional development and mentor new staff and students.
  • Demonstrate commitment to patient safety and report concerns appropriately.
