About The Position

Kennedy Krieger Institute offers more than 55 outpatient clinics, home and community programs, education, research, pediatric neurobehavioral and rehabilitation/feeding inpatient units and a day hospital. This position is 40 hours per week working with patients within the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury (ICSCI).

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialty required
  • Completion of a nurse practitioner program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing required
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license from Maryland
  • Certification as a nurse practitioner required by the State of Maryland
  • Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from an approved organization by the Maryland State Board of Nursing, including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and the American Nurses Credentialing Center

Responsibilities

  • Completing health assessments and documenting
  • Triaging patient issues
  • Handling emergency situations
  • Answering/responding to calls
  • Writing prescriptions and orders
  • Completing forms for patients
  • Be open, understanding, patient, and kind to every person who enters the clinic, regardless of age, sex, race, gender, religion, medical conditions, etc.
  • Independent evaluation and management of children with spinal cord injury in outpatient clinic
  • Thursday clinics alternates between Maple Lawn and White Marsh
  • Independent evaluation for inpatients with SCI
  • Weekly inpatient rounding
  • Participate in inpatient steering meetings and discharge meetings
