  • Assess, evaluate, diagnose and treat patients.
  • Perform and/or order clinically appropriate procedures for each patient including acute/chronic dialysis and therapeutic apheresis.
  • Analyze medical histories, diagnostic lab test and x-ray results, clinical examinations and perform physical examinations in formulating a diagnosis, plan of care and documenting in conformity with applicable professional standards, third party payer requirements and the Division's policies and procedures.
  • Prescribe clinically appropriate medication and treatment for each patient.
  • Work collaboratively with and refer patients to other physicians, including specialists and other health care practitioners, when necessary.
  • Maintain professionalism and follow code of conduct.
  • Keep and maintain accurate, complete, appropriate, timely and legible medical records relating to all professional services provided.
  • Use and promote evidence-based clinical practice.
  • Review on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention.
  • Consult with Medical Director, Division Chief and other medical professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
  • Participate in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital.
  • Encourage health promotion, disease prevention and management. Provide patient advocacy with a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Participate in teaching and learning in an integrated academic model of medical students, residents and fellows in addition to participating in peer review, development and consultation.
  • Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.
  • Maintain appropriate licensures and certifications.
  • Participate in call coverage rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • MD or DO degree required.
  • Successful completion of residency and fellowship program as applicable.
  • Board eligible or certified in Pediatric Nephrology.
  • Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut.
  • Active and Unrestricted D.E.A. Certificate.
