About The Position

Pediatric Medical Speech Pathology Clinical Fellowship Vanderbilt University Medical Center – Nashville, TN Start Date: Summer 2026 The Outpatient Pediatric Medical Speech Pathology team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is offering a Clinical Fellowship opportunity for emerging speech-language pathologists seeking immersive experience in pediatric medical care. Our clinical enterprise sees approximately 85,000 patient visits annually and includes both our Medical Center East and One Hundred Oaks locations. Clinical Fellowship Experience As part of your Clinical Fellowship, you will: Follow a competency-based model with rotations across multiple specialty areas in Pediatric Medical Speech Pathology. Receive 1:1 supervision and training in: Feeding and swallowing evaluations and therapy for a variety of pediatric diagnoses Speech-language and cognitive evaluations and therapy for children receiving multidisciplinary care Participate in observational learning opportunities, including: Multidisciplinary clinics Infant feeding and swallowing evaluations Pediatric VFSS procedures Engage in evidence-based problem solving as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior in all clinical interactions. Document patient care thoroughly and develop individualized treatment plans. Build foundational knowledge in insurance, billing, and coding procedures. Use reflective learning and self-assessment to support clinical growth. Participate in Journal Club with the Outpatient Feeding Team. Position Details Full-time, salaried, term position. A term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Although a position may exist for a specified or indefinite period, staff who accept term positions are not guaranteed employment for the entire period; they are employed for indefinite periods within the limit of the appointment. There are no guarantees of continued employment, either within the term or when the term ends.
