About The Position

Job Purpose: Under general supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant will provide outstanding care in service to pediatric patients, their families, and providers. The CMA must be able to assist the provider with patient flow in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Please note that this role could include occasional coverage on our pediatric phone nurse line. Please note that this position is a FLOAT role. Pediatric services are currently offered in 11 locations: Cumming, Douglasville, Duluth, Fayetteville, Gainesville, Lawrenceville, Riverdale, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Woodstock. You will be required to travel throughout the week.

Requirements

  • 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Analytical Skills; must be able to understand and follow medical charts and diagnoses.
  • Detail Oriented; must be precise when taking vital signs and recording patient information.
  • Interpersonal Skills; must be able to discuss patient information with physician and other medical personnel tactfully and confidentially.
  • Must be able to interact with patients who may be in pain or in distress in a calm and professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and follow through skills are required.
  • Computer literacy:
  • Technical Skills; Proficiency in and working knowledge of medical software applications, e.g., EMR, EHR, as well as Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Medical Assistant Certification is required.
  • A valid State of Georgia Driver's License and reliable transportation is required.
  • This position requires a substantial amount of standing, sitting and working at a computer station throughout the day.
  • Must be flexible and available to work at different locations. Pediatric services are currently offered in 11 locations: Cumming, Douglasville, Duluth, Fayetteville, Gainesville, Lawrenceville, Riverdale, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Woodstock

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, review and document patient medical history and record vital signs in EMR.
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist the provider during the examination.
  • Provide patient with accurate information, instruction, and education as it pertains to their medical visits and treatment procedures.
  • Administer medications as directed by provider.
  • As directed by provider, process pharmacy requests.
  • Pre-certify patients for treatment as needed, including both radiology and pharmacy needs.
  • Pull all orders (including telephone) and ensure that there are no patient "open orders".
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for processing.
  • Proactively follow up with patient labs (i.e., u/a, blood work, etc.) and patient records in a timely manner.
  • Ensure patient is scheduled with correct provider.
  • Remove stents, sutures, etc. as directed by provider.
  • Prepare examination rooms by maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms, as well as arranging the instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain supplies as needed.
  • Perform venipuncture on assigned patients with accuracy and care (not applicable in Peds).
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and OSHA standards of care.
  • Maintain positive and respectful dialogue at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
