Organization: MCC Rx Services Job Summary: Provides leadership in optimal product preparation and dosing of medications, and provision of patient specific drug information to include patient specific dosing. Aides in the prevention and reporting of medication errors and adverse drug reactions according to policy. Supports quality relationships with health care professionals, families, and patients; and the pharmacist is actively involved in being further educated and providing education in all appropriate ways. . Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is seeking a PRN Staff Pharmacist to join the Inpatient Pharmacy team! Position Highlights 24/7 inpatient pharmacy providing care to admitted pediatric patients. The pediatric PRN Staff Pharmacist is responsible for verifying medication orders, preparing and dispensing sterile and non-sterile pediatric products, and optimizing pharmacotherapy through medication reconciliation and clinical decision support across inpatient areas. This role requires active collaboration with pharmacy, nursing, and medical teams, participation in code/trauma response, and strong communication skills to ensure safe and effective patient care. Availability requirement: PRN Pharmacists must sign up for at least two shifts per month, one weekend shift every 12 weeks and for one holiday shift per year.

  • Relevant Work Experience Experience Level : Less than 1 year
  • Bachelor's (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Reviews drug orders and/or prescriptions to ensure the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medications.
  • Provides outstanding patient care by optimizing medication preparation and resolving medication-related problems.
  • Prepares and dispenses medications, provides drug information and manages medication therapy in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy.
  • Supervises the activities of assigned support personnel and verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of all medications prepared by support personnel prior to dispensing to patients or dispensing to healthcare providers for administration to patients.
