Under general supervision, collaborates with members of the healthcare team, attends daily rounds and provides nutrition care to pediatric inpatients in a fast-paced setting. Independently performs the nutrition care process, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation, specific to age and medical status. In collaboration with team, develops an interdisciplinary nutrition plan of care. Proficient in enteral and parenteral nutrition in pediatric patients. Provides education, training, and expertise to members of the healthcare team and dietetic interns to advance their development in the field. Pediatric coverage includes rotations between the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and the pediatric progressive care unit (PPCU). The PICU provides care to critically ill patients ages neonate through young adult with medical, surgical, and cardiac surgery diagnoses. The PPCU provides care for children from birth through 21 years of age. PPCU patients include general medicine, hematology, oncology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, nephrology, pediatric surgery and orthopedic patients.
