The position involves performing admissions, consultations, and daily care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU setting. Responsibilities include performing procedures such as central venous lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and endotracheal intubation, as well as managing medical and post-operative ICU patients. The conditions treated include respiratory disease, liver failure/transplants, multi-system organ failure, uncontrolled/new onset diabetes, neuro-surgery patients, and varying levels of acuity and medical conditions, with ECMO experience preferred. The role also involves ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, educating patients and families on treatment plans, monitoring patient treatment courses, and collaborating with physicians and staff to provide consistent care. A caring and professional attitude is essential, along with a passion for pediatric patients and families. The position requires 13 shifts a month, consisting of 13-hour clinical shifts, with both day and night call responsibilities.

  • Performs procedures including central venous lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and endotracheal intubation.
  • Manages medical and post-operative ICU patients.
  • Treats conditions such as respiratory disease, liver failure/transplants, multi-system organ failure, uncontrolled/new onset diabetes, and neuro-surgery patients.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory and X-ray.
  • Educates patients and families on treatment plans, surgical procedures, and pre and post-operative care.
  • Monitors the patient's course of treatment and makes appropriate referrals to physicians or specialists as needed.
  • Collaborates with physicians and staff to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude.
  • Demonstrates a passion for pediatric patients and families.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies.
  • 5 years' experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA-C in an ICU or acute care setting (Highly preferred).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team player mentality.
  • Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligibility to obtain FL licensure).
  • BLS and PALS certification required.
  • Candidate must be able to successfully pass a third-party background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • Preference given to nocturnist applicants.
  • Certification by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) (Highly preferred).
