About The Position

This is a Locum Tenens Pediatric Hospitalist position in Mountain Home, AR, focused on call-only coverage for inpatient, nursery, and ER services. The coverage period is ongoing, starting June 5, 2026, with a typical on-call shift from Friday 5:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM. The call is 24-hour, offsite (hotel/home call), with a low callback rate of 2-3 calls per day and a 30-minute response time. The role requires working one weekend per month. Patient demographics include neonates, infants, and pediatrics, with a very low inpatient volume (1-2 patients), an average of 5 babies in the nursery, and 2-3 ER calls daily. Responsibilities include admissions, phone consults, and daily rounding on Saturday and Sunday. The facility is a Level III-IV (Adult) Trauma Center utilizing the Cerner EMR system, with standard pediatric and neonatal support equipment and hospital staff available. The position is needed due to physician leave.

Requirements

• Active AR license required (no licensing available)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
• DEA Required
• New graduates accepted
• Must be comfortable with neonatal stabilization and emergency pediatric care
• Neonatal resuscitation
• Intubation
• Line placement
• Stabilization for transfer

Responsibilities

• Provide weekend pediatric call coverage (offsite)
• Manage newborn nursery and inpatient pediatric unit
• Respond to ER consults (primarily phone-based)
• Perform daily rounding on nursery and inpatient unit
• Stabilize and transfer patients as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EMR
