About The Position

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist at UM Shore Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive care to pediatric patients in an inpatient setting. This role involves managing patient histories, performing physical examinations, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Requirements

• Master's Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program and National Board Certification in specialty area required.
• Current Board Certification as Acute Care Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a pediatric inpatient setting as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
• Appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
• Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.

Responsibilities

• Perform rounding, consultations, admissions, and discharges for the well baby nursery, special care nursery, and pediatric unit.
• Attend deliveries as needed.
• Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Initiate, document, and communicate the plan of care, ensuring complete screening and preparation of patients.
• Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
• Interpret laboratory and test results.
• Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
