About The Position

Works collaboratively with dedicated and caring hospitalist physician group to provide evaluation and treatment of patients in an established hospitalist program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Meets the requirements determined by the State of IL or WI to perform duties defined as those of a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Minimum of two years' experience with Mercyhealth Hospitalist Department.
  • Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in state of practice.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required.
  • PALS required.

Responsibilities

  • Patient admissions, completing progress notes, patient education, prescribing medications, order diagnostic tests, and recommending therapeutic interventions.
  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
  • Discusses case with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by Physician.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
