Beacon Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology Oncology is seeking a full-time BC/BE Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join our premier practice in South Bend, Indiana. Our position provides a great opportunity to contribute to the clinical program development and provide clinical care to children in a medically underserved area. Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist Job Summary Beacon’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology program provides comprehensive care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of blood disorders and cancers. The oncology service actively manages 30–40 patients at any given time, while also supporting a large population of patients who are off therapy. Additionally, this group receives approximately 200 new hematology referrals annually and provides ongoing care for around 80 children with sickle cell disease, in addition to many others with chronic benign hematologic disorders. In close collaboration with Riley Children’s Health, Beacon’s pediatric oncology physicians work seamlessly with a broad network of physician specialists to ensure access to the full spectrum of treatment options. This partnership enhances the depth and breadth of care available to our patients. As the region’s only designated children’s hospital, Beacon Children’s Hospital serves as a referral center for 29 hospitals across Southwestern Michigan and Northern Indiana. Our forward-thinking, family-focused team treats a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions, offering families access to advanced pediatric care close to home. Work Schedule: The physicians work in the outpatient clinic and cover an inpatient service, along with support from a strong pediatric hospitalist team. Call is shared equally among the physicians. Leadership Role Opportunities: Affiliation with Indiana University School of Medicine at Notre Dame and Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency allows for teaching of residents, medical students and supervision of post-graduate trainees. The program has a strong working relationship with regional academic centers and collaborates with these centers frequently when caring for patients. We provide an opportunity to participate in limited medical student/resident education and clinical research.
