About The Position

The Division of General Surgery is seeking an experienced pediatric surgeon to join our team of professionals who are committed to providing excellent care in a supportive environment. The candidate accepting this position will be responsible for an active clinical and surgical practice, as well as teaching medical students, surgery fellows and residents. An interest in trauma is preferred. If desired, a research interest will be fostered by the section and in conjunction with the new, state-of-the-art Children’s Mercy Research Institute. Academic appointments are through the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and the University of Kansas. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits. The Division of General Surgery within the Department of Surgery at Children’s Mercy is a leading clinical, teaching, and research program in the United States. The Division is comprised of 8 full time pediatric surgeons and 15 advanced practice providers, delivering care for approximately 7000 clinical visits and performing more than 3000 surgical cases annually. The Division of General Surgery oversees three fellowship programs, including Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Surgical Scholar, as well as provides training for rotating general surgery residents. The Division of General Surgery provides Medical Leadership to Children’s Mercy Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Program (ACS), Burn Program, and Level 1 Children’s Surgery Program (ACS).
