About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Pediatric Gastroenterologist join our growing team. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience. This position is full or part-time, 50%-100% This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.  The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a vibrant academic department comprising more than 200 faculty members in 16 subspecialty divisions. The department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting-edge research, and vigorous advocacy. Our faculty enjoy a robust infrastructure of services as well as the opportunity to contribute to our world-class research portfolio: since 2015, the Department of Pediatrics has ranked among the Top 20 pediatrics departments receiving NIH funding, according to Blue Ridge Institutes for Medical Research. The Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Division provides evaluation and treatment for a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver disorders and participates in clinical and translational research to help lead future practice. The GI and hepatology team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pediatric dieticians, and a pediatric health psychologist who help manage complex and chronic gastrointestinal diseases. This team offers care through outpatient clinics at UW Health Kids and hospital care at UW Health Kids American Family Children’s Hospital, as well as multiple sites across the region.

Requirements

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Gastroenterology through the American Board of Pediatrics is required by the appointment start date.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Gastroenterology is required by the appointment start date.
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
  • The candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.
  • MD, DO, or equivalent is required

Nice To Haves

  • ASSOCIATE AND PROFESSOR CHS or CT RANK: For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS or CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT Track.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in clinical teaching of fellows, residents and medical students, and support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department.
  • Physicians hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Clinical expectations include providing patient care at three UW Health Outpatient Clinics and bedside at the American Family Children’s Hospital and participating outreach locations.
