About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, is seeking an exceptional Academic Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to join our dynamic and expanding practice. Qualified candidates will have completed residency in Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine and fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and be board certified or board eligible. We seek applicants who have developed additional subspecialty expertise—including but not limited to ultrasound, EMS, clinical or translational research, quality improvement, or educational innovation—or who bring meaningful post-fellowship clinical experience. These skills reflect current departmental needs and will help strengthen our robust academic and clinical mission. Practice Highlights High-acuity, high-complexity clinical practice within a busy academic Emergency Department caring for 87,000 annual visits, including ~15,000 pediatric encounters, and serving as a Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center. Clinical practice in a state-of-the-art Emergency Department with a dedicated Pediatric ED designed for efficient, family-centered, and high-quality care. Opportunity to shape and advance pediatric emergency medicine within Mayo Clinic’s expansive, integrated system. Academic & Institutional Opportunities Engage in collaborative scholarship supported by robust administrative and research infrastructure, including intramural funding mechanisms and access to statisticians, data analysts, and programmers. Teach and mentor exceptional learners across the Mayo Clinic Emergency Medicine Residency, Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine Residency, and the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. Utilize world-class educational resources, including the Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center and Procedural Mastery Suites, to advance simulation, procedural education, and systems-based training. Collaborate across an integrated network of 21 emergency departments throughout the Midwest and with EM colleagues in Arizona and Florida, promoting innovation, shared best practices, and systemwide quality improvement. Partner with the Mayo Clinic Center for the Science of Healthcare Delivery to develop and study operational advancements, patient flow, quality initiatives, and safety innovations.

Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, communication, and teamwork.
  • A track record of (or strong potential for) academic contributions in system innovation, research, education, or quality improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Mid-career experience or additional post-fellowship clinical experience.
  • Training or demonstrated skill in EMS or EMS medical direction, ultrasound, clinical research, health services research, or systems/operations innovation.
  • Experience working in or with interdisciplinary teams and learners at multiple levels.
