About The Position

The Clinical PRN Pharmacist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care within the emergency department (ED) and other clinical settings. This position involves backfilling evening ED shifts and being cross-trained for clinical day shifts as needed. The pharmacist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize pharmacotherapy, ensure medication safety, and enhance patient outcomes through effective communication and medication management.

Requirements

• Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency training program.
• Tennessee Pharmacist License (LIC-Pharmacist License - Tennessee).
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

• Backfill open evening ED shifts and cross-train for clinical day shifts as needed.
• Provide direct patient care through multidisciplinary interactions.
• Conduct medication reconciliation and optimize pharmacotherapy.
• Prepare and deliver medications, ensuring compliance with regulations and hospital policies.
• Verify medication orders and manage medication therapy effectively.
• Respond to code and trauma situations as part of the clinical team.
• Supervise support personnel and verify the accuracy of medications prepared by them.
