About The Position

Capitol Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics is an exciting new pediatric dental and orthodontic practice opening in Summer 2026 in Silver Spring, MD. Our mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate, and comprehensive care in a fun, child-friendly environment. We are building a modern practice focused on prevention, education, and positive patient experiences for children and their families. We are seeking a Part-Time Pediatric Dentist to join our growing team. This role will begin at 1–2 days per week, with a strong opportunity to increase days as the practice expands. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a startup environment and help shape the culture and clinical excellence of the practice.

Requirements

  • DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency program (CODA-accredited)
  • Active and unrestricted Maryland Dental License (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
  • Current DEA registration
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (PALS preferred)
  • Nitrous oxide permit (if applicable under Maryland regulations)
  • Eligibility for credentialing with major insurance providers and Medicaid
  • Strong clinical skills with a focus on pediatric patient care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and parents

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a pediatric dental setting
  • Comfort with behavior management techniques and sedation dentistry
  • Interest in growth with a startup practice environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred, but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive pediatric dental care to infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs
  • Perform preventive and restorative procedures, including exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, crowns, and extractions
  • Diagnose and manage dental conditions, including caries, trauma, and developmental issues
  • Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, diet, and preventive care
  • Administer local anesthesia and, if trained/credentialed, nitrous oxide or other sedation modalities
  • Collaborate with orthodontists and other team members to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented, and patient-centered office culture
