Requirements

• Dental x-ray certification
• Proven experience as a pediatric dental assistant
• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
• Understanding of health & safety regulations
• Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus
• Good computer skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Attention to detail
• Well-organized and reliable
• Graduating from dental assistant school is preferred

Responsibilities

• Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each clinical day engaged and ready to participate in team morning meeting
• Ensure that patients have an excellent experience by providing care in a patient-friendly environment, including bringing patients back on time and greeting them by name
• Get to know the patients and interact with families on an individual level
• Serve as chairside clinical assistant, demonstrating proficiency in orthodontic assisting tasks such as photographs, radiographs, impressions, digital scanning, reties, wire changes, and bracket placements
• Demonstrate proficiency in orthodontic language and terminology for chart notes
• Use orthodontic practice management software to schedule next visits and assist the administrative team when necessary
• Efficiently run clinical chair to see 12-15 patients per day
• Provide instructions to patients/parents throughout orthodontic treatment
• Assist in instrument sterilization via cold sterile, dry-heat, and autoclave methods
• Dual train with the ortho team
• Work with other team members to help the day run smoothly
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the doctor
