The Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation unit specializes in long-term rehabilitation care and is one of only two California pediatric CARF-accredited facilities. They cater to a wide range of conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, multiple traumas, trach/vent patients, spinal cord injuries, stroke, orthopedic conditions, Guillan-Barre, and other neurologic disorders. Additionally, they offer specialized care for medical patients admitted to the hospital, leveraging their team’s exceptional expertise in an interdisciplinary setting. The unit features a large playroom with two TVs for family entertainment and a wall of cabinets filled with toys for patients. There is also a spacious kitchen area equipped with 2 ovens and an industrial-sized fridge and freezer for families to use during their extended stay, ensuring their child is fully prepared for a smooth transition back home. The commitment to patient success is evident in their focus on providing specialized education to empower patients to care for themselves before they return home. To maintain high standards, they utilize a national database to track patient outcomes, with Valley Children’s Rehab patients showing some of the best results in the country, particularly in achieving greater independence after care. The Pediatric Care Technician (PCT) is an unlicensed multi-skilled worker who supports patient care by performing specific nursing tasks and support functions as delegated by a licensed provider. Care provided by the PCT is supervised by a Registered Nurse.
