About The Position

The Pediatric APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for performing admissions, consultations and follow up care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU setting, including intubation, ventilator management and other procedures that may be required. The role involves managing medical and post-operative ICU patients with conditions treated including Congenital Heart Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Epilepsy, Complex Medical, and Liver Transplant. The candidate will order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory and X-ray, educate patients and families on treatment plans, surgical procedures, and pre- and post-operative care, monitor the patient's course of treatment, and make appropriate referrals to either a physician or specialist as needed. Collaboration with physicians and staff is essential to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA-C in an ICU, acute care or ER setting.
  • Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligibility to obtain FL licensure).
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing in Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Cardiac ICU experience as an APRN or PA-C.
  • Experience with ECMO.
  • Certification by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB).
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with Acute Care Certification.
