About The Position

Connecticut Children's is Connecticut's only dedicated heath care system dedicated to Children. It is an academic free standing Children's Hospital affiliated with the University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine. The cardiovascular institute at Connecticut Children's offers full range of cardiovascular services from neonates to adults. Complex interventional cardiology and zero X ray ablation, dedicated cardiac intensivist are among some of the highlights of our program. We have a newly developed fetal care center and our adult congenital heart disease program is accredited by adult congenital heart association. Qualifications: Candidate should be dual-boarded/board eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care medicine with 1 year advanced training in Cardiac Critical Care or Pediatric Cardiology with an additional year in CVICU/ CICU.

Requirements

• Candidate should be dual-boarded/board eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care medicine with 1 year advanced training in Cardiac Critical Care or Pediatric Cardiology with an additional year in CVICU/ CICU.
• Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut
• BC/BE Pediatric Cardiologist.
• DEA with Controlled Substance required and must be maintained thereafter
• Candidate should have the ability to lead a diverse group, to work with hospital and academic department partners using a collaborative approach, success in promoting scholarship and funding, and the ability to mentor young faculty

Responsibilities

• Clinical responsibilities: Will include clinical time in the CVICU, working with multidisciplinary team, be part of team developing and implementation of care protocols. Will be encouraged to actively participate in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program.
• Educational responsibilities: Will include supervision, instruction, and mentoring of pediatric residents, and medical students, as well as dedicated CVICU advanced practice providers
• Research: Clinical research opportunities, development of research programs. Candidates will be strongly encouraged to initiate and/or be part of ongoing QI projects.
• Candidate may choose to actively help support and develop Step down unit /intermediate unit to help provide continued safe care to cardiac patients in collaboration with the inpatient cardiologist team.
• Advanced heart failure Pediatric pulmonary hypertension.
• A ventricular assist device and heart transplant program.
• Neurodevelopment in patients with congenital cardiac disease and advanced technologies.
