A Brief Overview Appropriately assess nutritional status of pediatric patients to determine appropriate nutrition-focused interventions and provide ongoing re-assessment to monitor the effectiveness of outcomes. Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and families. Provides medical nutrition therapy for patients based on research-based guidelines throughout inpatient and outpatient settings. . Provides education, in-services and mentors the dietetic interns. Provides direction and guidance to patient food service staff regarding the nutritional adequacy of meals, formulas, and makes appropriate recommendations to physicians, other medical staff, patients and their caregivers. Serve as nutrition expert on interdisciplinary teams and in the community.
