About The Position

Edgewood ISD is currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Middle School PE Teacher and Assistant High School and Middle School Girls’ Basketball Coach. This position requires a passion for teaching, a deep understanding of the subject matter assigned, and the ability to inspire and motivate students. We are a school district with 1,000 students located just east of Dallas on Highway 80. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Applicants must hold relevant teaching certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans using effective instructional strategies, technology, and accommodations to meet diverse student needs.
  • Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor achievement, adjust instruction, and support individual learning styles, including IEP modifications.
  • Create a safe, positive, and structured learning environment that supports students’ academic, physical, social, and emotional development, while managing behavior in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, special education staff, parents, and community members to support instructional goals and maintain open, professional communication.
  • Participate in staff development, fulfill extracurricular and committee duties, maintain required documentation, and comply with district, state, and board policies.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to national and school curriculum standards.
  • Provide instruction and foster an environment that encourages students to participate in the learning process.
  • Evaluate student performance through assessments, providing feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in school events and staff meetings.
  • Train, mentor, and guide students in various sports activities.
  • Develop strategies to improve team performance, ensuring that all players understand the rules and strategies of the sport.
