About The Position

The Physical Education (P.E.) Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education program for junior high students (grades 6–8). The teacher promotes physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and sportsmanship while ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment aligned with Arizona state standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement (Physical Education K–12)
  • Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and instructional best practices
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching or coaching experience at the junior high level
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with Arizona Physical Education Standards
  • Teach skills related to fitness, sports, movement, and overall wellness
  • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among students
  • Assess and monitor student progress in physical fitness and skill development
  • Adapt instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those with diverse abilities
  • Maintain a safe environment and enforce safety rules and procedures
  • Organize and manage equipment and facilities
  • Collaborate with staff, administration, and parents to support student success
  • Supervise students during class, locker room transitions, and school activities as assigned
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and assessments
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development, and district initiatives
  • Support extracurricular activities, such as coaching or clubs, if assigned
