There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
As an ASIC Design Engineer - PDK/CAD Manager at Brookhaven National Laboratory, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining the design infrastructure necessary for the ASIC development team. This position involves providing tool support and training while serving as the custodian of the process design kits (PDKs) and CAD/EAD tools. You will collaborate closely with scientists, engineers, technicians, and IT experts on complex projects that are critical to the Lab and its partners. Your contributions will enable the development of high-performance analog, digital, and mixed-mode ASICs for scientific instruments, which are essential for various applications including radiation sensors, base-band analog, RF, digital data converters, and artificial intelligence technologies. The challenges you will face are unique and complex, as the ASICs developed at BNL are designed for extreme environments, such as cryogenic temperatures and high radiation doses. This role will require you to engage in the development of ASICs for particle detectors, high-resolution X- and gamma-ray spectrometers, and high-rate photon counters and imagers. Additionally, you will be involved in R&D programs focused on Quantum Information Science, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Neuromorphic Processing, which necessitate ASICs with specific layouts. Your work will have a significant impact, shaping the instruments used for scientific discovery and engineering advancements globally. In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date organization of CAD/EDA ASIC design tools, PDKs, and version-controlled repositories of design libraries. You will work with IT and security teams to configure and maintain the Linux-based cluster for CAD/EDA design tools from major vendors. You will also be tasked with integrating designs in a multi-user environment, organizing work directories, and setting up environments for AI and ML modeling and simulations. Your role will also involve interacting with major vendors to optimize the tools available to the team and organizing workshops and training sessions to standardize design practices.
