The City of Coppell Police Department is actively seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Police Recruits and Police Officers. This role is ideal for candidates who possess a strong commitment to public service and a desire to make a positive impact in the community. As a Police Recruit, you will enter a temporary status while you complete essential training and certification processes, including the Basic Course in Applied Police Science (BCAPS) and obtaining a T.C.O.L.E Basic Peace Officer Certification. This phase is crucial as it prepares you for the responsibilities of a Police Officer, where you will be expected to uphold the law, protect citizens, and engage with the community in a respectful and equitable manner. The recruitment process is structured and thorough, beginning with an application period from July 1 to July 28, 2024. Qualified candidates will undergo a series of assessments, including a Physical Fitness Test, Written Examination, and an Internal Background Investigation. Successful candidates will then participate in a DISC Assessment and Oral Panel Interview, followed by pre-employment requirements such as credit and background checks, psychological evaluations, and a meeting with the Chief of Police. The first day of employment is set for October 14, 2024, with the Academy starting on November 4, 2024. This timeline ensures that all recruits are well-prepared to serve the community effectively.
