About The Position

Charleston GI has been developing since 1989. Our practice is the first and largest gastroenterology practice in the Lowcountry to operate a physician's practice and three nationally certified and state licensed endoscopy centers. Our team includes ten outstanding Board-Certified Gastroenterologists, with a combined experience of over 100 years of treating patients. Occupational Summary: A Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Charleston GI assists the Physicians and clinical staff by performing clerical and patient care duties under the direction of a Physician or Clinical Director. This person should have basic knowledge of clerical duties and medical terminology, as well as neat, legible handwriting and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic patient care at the level of qualified medical assistant or 1-2 years of direct patient care in a medical practice or similar office environment
  • Current BLS certification
  • Ability to organize and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to record vital signs, patient's chief complaint, etc. on all patients at every visit according to practice protocols
  • Knowledge, understanding and the ability to effectively communicate using medical terminology
  • Work independently
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Experience with high patient volume
  • Professional etiquette and ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to exercise tact under pressure
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively contribute as a member of a team
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily operations of receiving patients into the office for assessment.
  • Assist physicians, nurses and other office staff as directed
  • Provide and maintain patient safety and confidentiality
  • Escort patients in the clinical area to appropriate exam rooms
  • Obtain and record vital signs accurately
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms with all items included on exam room inventory list
  • Sanitize and straighten exam rooms between patient visits
  • Assist with obtaining prior authorizations
  • Assist with maintaining and loading patient information accurately in EMR
  • Participate as a team player
